|14 October 2004||Cheshire County Council announce their intention to start a Public Inquiry on the scheme in January 2005.|
|14 May 2007||Cheshire County Council are now working to raise the status of the scheme from 'provisional acceptance' to 'conditional acceptance'. To achieve this major leap forward they need to submit various economic and traffic data to the Department for Transport. Work is also underway on the detailed design of the road.|
|14 August 2008||The scheme has received approval from the Department for Transport and Civils have been appointed as the contractor for the main works. Works is now due to begin on site in January 2009, some five years after the original start date.|
|8 November 2008||Construction is, according to Cheshire CC, due to start in the New Year. In the last week, 'No construction traffic' signs, etc have sprouted on various side roads near the scheme.|
|13 February 2009||Boundary fencing is now visible at the south end of the new alignment.|
|11 February 2010||Extensive works are underway along the whole route. The local road west of Nether Alderley (Welsh Row, near the railway crossing) is closed during bridge construction, and the deck of Chelford Road Bridge (A535) is nearing completion. The northern end roundabout has been modified to incorporate the new road, while at the south the existing A34 from the new roundabout (Frog Lane, layout clear but not in use) to the A537 is being straightened, a right-turn refuge for Bollington Lane created, and a left-turn filter for Macclesfield traffic is being constructed at Monks Heath crossroads.|
|20 September 2010||Contractor Birse Civils has said it is several months ahead of schedule, and it may be possible for the new road to open as early as December 2010 instead of the planned summer 2011 completion. Brook Lane bridge is now completed and open.|
|12 October 2010||The opening date is set for 19 November, with George Osborne MP to officially open the road, now costed at £52m. A 'Run The Bypass' charity event on Sunday 24 October will allow runners and walkers to explore the new route before opening.|
