Scheme Outline

This scheme will see a short section of the A46 Lincoln bypass dualled. The section lies to the west of the city, between the roundabout with the B1190 Doddington Road and the notorious staggered junction with Whisby Road.

The dual carriageway is largely intended to function as a safety improvement.

Progress

2 August 2011	Main works began on 1 August and overnight the junction was coned off to become left-in, left-out in both directions. A 40mph speed limit is now in force through the works.
28 September 2011	Whisby Road junction is now closed, and traffic wanting to continue along Whisby Road must join teh A46 to the roundabout with Doddington Road and double back on themselves to get back to Whisby Road.
17 December 2011	The stone base layer for the second A46 carriageway is in place and presumably is being allowed to settle. The dualling of the short section of Whisby Road appears to be making more visible progress, with the new carriageway's kerbing in place. Work continues around the outer of the existing roundabout with the B1190, with signs indicating that the westbound exit will be closed for 3 weeks from 9th January 2012.
