Scheme Outline
Construction of a new at-grade single carriageway to replace the existing A473 from Llantrisant to Treforest, bypassing Church Village, Llantwit Fardre and Ton-teg.
Progress
| 21 October 2009 | The first phase, from Cross Inn to Gwaun Meisgyn, has opened. |

| 17 August 2010 | The first major section of the bypass, from Crown Hill to Creigiau, opened in April 2010. Final tie-in work is almost complete on the remaining sections, with an anticipated completion date of 20 August 2010. |
| 7 September 2010 | The new road was officially opened today by the Welsh First Minister, marking the end of the project. |
