Scheme Outline

Construction of a new single-carriageway bypass to Haydon Bridge on the A69 Newcastle-Carlisle route. This is the last significant settlement on the route to receive a bypass.

The Highways Agency have declared their planned timescale for this project includes ground investigations beginning immediately, with construction beginning in 2007.

Department for Transport announces bypass as part of £5.5bn of national highway improvements.

Work begins on-site.

The government approves the scheme, with work due to start in 2007.
June 2007
Groundwork is now underway, with the line of the road clearly visible. Cemetery Road is now closed off for realignment works and construction of the bridge.
