Scheme Outline
Realignment of the A120 between Stansted Airport and Braintree. The new route is a new-build road with dual two-lane carriageways and hard shoulders, with provision for addition of an extra lane. This is a very rare large-scale road project, with 32 structures (such as bridges) on the route.
Timeline

- Stansted Airport opens, increasing traffic on the A120 to and from the east of Essex.

- Construction of new alignment begins.
- Dec 2003
- Stansted to Great Dunmow section is open.
- Summer 2004
- Road from M11 to Braintree is fully open.
