Scheme Outline
Construction of a new single two-lane route to the west of Barnstaple, connecting the A39 Atlantic Highway with the A361 North Devon road. The scheme includes a new 400m bridge over the River Taw, and will provide for the potential reopening of the railway line beyond Barnstaple.

- Construction work begins.
- July 2005
- The southern terminal roundabout has been completed.
- March 2006
- New link roads and Sticklepath roundabout were opened on 18 March. The existing A3125 on Sticklepath Hill will now be closed and the old railway bridges demolished.
- August 2006
- The old railway bridges have now gone!
- March 2007
- The downstream bridge and station viaduct are now complete, earthworks are almost done and the Braunton Road junction is also nearing completion. The road is due to open in April.
- May 2007
- The new road opens to traffic.
