Scheme Outline
Provision of dynamic hard-shoulder running (use of the hard shoulder as a fourth lane during busy periods) between J23-27 of the M25, in order to increase capacity of the existing road space, and thus reduce congestion.
This replaces an earlier proposal to widen the section to four lanes each way.

| 27 October 2010 | Funding for this scheme was confirmed in a statement by the Transport Secretary yesterday. |

| 25 December 2010 | The original plan to widen this section of the M25 has been abandoned in favour of a Managed Motorway scheme, with hard-shoulder running. |
| 1 December 2011 | This scheme forms part of the National Infrastructure Plan, announced earlier this week. The Government therefore intends to accelerate progress. |
