Scheme Outline

Upgrading of the existing roundabout junction linking the A6 Alvaston Bypass to the A5111 Raynesway to a two-level junction.

The junction is being constructed to serve the New Raynesway development site.

Progress

November 2008
The Public Inquiry took place in September 2008 and a decision is awaited from the DfT.
12 December 2008
The DfT have today announced the decision to proceed with the scheme. Construction is expected to start in Spring 2009.
5 June 2009
There is no sign of anything happening on the ground yet.
11 August 2009
Work commenced on 11 August and signs warning of the roadworks have now been erected.
3 October 2009
Although traffic is still using the existing roundabout, works are progressing well on all sides of the junction.
15 December 2009
Traffic is now using a temporary road layout while the bridge works are undertaken.
5 March 2010
The junction is beginning to take shape, with bridge beams being lifted into place today.
24 July 2010
As of this morning drivers are now using the new bridge and slip roads while works are completed on the main dual carriageway link.
