Scheme Outline
Upgrading of the existing roundabout junction linking the A6 Alvaston Bypass to the A5111 Raynesway to a two-level junction.
The junction is being constructed to serve the New Raynesway development site.
Progress
- November 2008
- The Public Inquiry took place in September 2008 and a decision is awaited from the DfT.
- 12 December 2008
- The DfT have today announced the decision to proceed with the scheme. Construction is expected to start in Spring 2009.
- 5 June 2009
- There is no sign of anything happening on the ground yet.
- 11 August 2009
- Work commenced on 11 August and signs warning of the roadworks have now been erected.
- 3 October 2009
- Although traffic is still using the existing roundabout, works are progressing well on all sides of the junction.
- 15 December 2009
- Traffic is now using a temporary road layout while the bridge works are undertaken.
- 5 March 2010
- The junction is beginning to take shape, with bridge beams being lifted into place today.
- 24 July 2010
- As of this morning drivers are now using the new bridge and slip roads while works are completed on the main dual carriageway link.
