Woodpecker to Woodhouse on the A58(M)

You are here: Home - Media - Video - Woodpecker to Woodhouse on the A58(M)

Leeds is home to the very first urban motorway, the A58(M), whose first section opened in 1964. It has hair-raising corners, a right-hand exit, lengthy sections buried in a concrete trench, a tunnel under the Infirmary and sliproads designed for just 20mph.

This video takes a spin on it at double speed. It starts at Woodpecker junction, turns onto the A64(M), then runs right the way around to the end of the road at the Armley Gyratory; from there it heads back onto the A58(M) again, finally exiting onto one of the sharply curved sliproads to Woodhouse Lane.
