Construction Timeline
When the various parts of the A1(M) were built, listed in chronological order.
NB: Junction numbers were not applied to the A1(M) until the early 1990s. The construction stages of the road do not make sense as a whole, but as a series of bypasses in different regions. It is only recently that converting the whole road to motorway was seriously considered.
