The Thelwall Viaduct, as seen from the River Mersey. The older Viaduct is in the foreground, with the newer (southbound) one behind it.
Southbound on the Preston Bypass, approaching the A59. The road here has been widened and realigned now to the extent that it's virtually unrecognisable as the oldest motorway in the country.
