Upgrade of the existing A160 in anticipation of predicted rapid growth in traffic using the Port of Immingham in the next 10 to 15 years.

The single-carriageway sections of the road between the port entrance and the junction with the A180 will be upgraded to dual two-lane standard.

The work also includes the following:

Brocklesby interchange will be upgraded to a two bridge roundabout layout, including a left turn lane for traffic from the eastbound A180 to the A160.

The Habrough Roundabout will be relocated to the west of its present position and new link roads provided to Ulceby Road, Top Road and Habrough Road.

The central reserve gap at Town Street junction closed and partial closure of the gap at the entrance to the oil refinery.

A new road bridge at Town Street to enable vehicular and pedestrian access to the two parts of South Killingholme.

A new gyratory system between the Manby Road roundabout, Rosper Road Junction and the Port of Immingham entrance which will require the construction of a new bridge and new link road under the railway.

23 March 2010 The preferred route was announced on 22 March 2010.
30 October 2010 Following the autumn spending review, the DfT has decided to continue preparatory work on this scheme, with a view to starting construction after 2015.
8 May 2012 The start of development work was announced today.
12 January 2015 The Planning Inspectorate has sent a report of recommendation to the Secretary of State (6 November 2014). The Secretary of State has 3 months, (until 06/02/2015), to publish a decision. The decision and any reports of recommendation will be published on the NPI website following the decision.
3 March 2015 The Development Consent Order was granted in February 2015, and public exhibitions took place on 27 and 28 February. Construction is expected to start at the end of March.
30 March 2015 A ceremony to mark the official start of work took place on March 27, although main work is not scheduled to start until April 20th.
