A465 Brynmawr to Tredegar Dualling

Scheme outline

Reconstruction of the A465 between Brynmawr and Tredegar to provide a dual two-lane road with grade separated junctions. This is section three of a larger dualling project that is expected to be completed by 2020.

This scheme has been completed and CBRD is no longer accepting progress updates.
16 March 2010

The contract has now been awarded for this scheme.

11 May 2011

Funding for this scheme was confirmed by the Deputy First Minister on 16 March 2011.

2 February 2012

A pre-Inquiry meeting is being held today (02 February 2012). The Public Enquiry is due to start on 20 March 2012.

23 October 2014

Construction began in January 2013, and is progressing well, the project is on course to meet the Summer 2015 completion.

14 January 2015

Major structures are now complete on this scheme including, no less than 7 bridges and one of the tallest earth embankments in Europe. The scheme is scheduled to be finished around the end of June.

16 August 2015

This road is finally due to open at the end of August 2015. Final parts being tied in near the Tredegar end over the next week.

27 August 2015

According to the official website, one lane of each carriageway is now open.

14 October 2015

The new road was officially opened at the end of September 2015.
