A5124 Shrewsbury North West Relief Road

Scheme outline

Construction of a new single carriageway road to link the A5/A458 Churncote roundabout west of Shrewsbury with the A528/A5124 Battlefield roundabout to the north, and thus complete a ring road around the town. A new viaduct would be built to carry the road over the River Severn and its floodplain.

After a series of public consultations, the most recent being in April/May 2010, the project is currently on hold pending a comprehensive spending review by the Department for Transport.

Update from local press - Shropshire Star
Shropshire Council has said it is progressing well with its business case – which will be presented to the Department of Transport in a bid for funding for the multi-million pound scheme.

This is due to be completed in time for the December 22 deadline.

The next step is for a public and stakeholder consultation to be carried out in October.
