Construction of a new route between the western end of the A617 Rainworth bypass and the A617 at Pleasley, passing to the south of Mansfield. Its purpose is to regenerate the area following job losses due to the closure of the coal mining industry. The route appears to be mostly, if not entirely, single carriageway. It essentially forms a bypass for Mansfield on the northwest to southeast axis.
|14 July 2004||Construction well under way around the A38.|
|14 December 2004||Road is completed and opened in two stages.|
