Completion of the link between M74 at Polmadie and M8/M80 at Provan. Two earlier phases have already been completed: Phase 1 is New Rutherglen Road, Oatlands, completed in 2007; Phase 1A runs from Polmadie to Shawfield, completed in 2010; and Phase 2 runs from the River Clyde to Parkhead, opened in 2012.

This final section comprises 1.4 km of 4-lane carriageway, with 2 terminal and 2 intermediate junctions. An eight-span viaduct will carry the road over the Glasgow-Airdrie railway line.

Progress

13 November 2016 Work has started on removing the old railway bridge walls and the embankment at the bottom of Todd Street at its junction with Carntyne Road.
