A80 Auchenkilns Roundabout

Scheme outline

Upgrade of the existing roundabout to a grade-separated roundabout interchange, removing the biggest bottleneck on the M80/A80 route north-east from Glasgow. It is one of several schemes planned as interim measures before the M80 upgrade is ready to proceed.

This scheme was completed in and we're no longer accepting updates or changes to this page.

Progress

This scheme has been completed and CBRD is no longer accepting progress updates.
14 January 2004

Work begins.

14 October 2004

Work has been severely delayed since the collapse of an embankment carrying the north side of the new roundabout. Work is still progressing on-site but it's not certain whether this issue has been resolved.

14 April 2005

The collapsed embankment and sliproad have now been rebuilt and at least one bridge is in place, though not yet connected to anything. Northbound A80 traffic is now passing around the junction rather than through on the mainline.

14 November 2005

The junction is now open to traffic, though some minor works are still ongoing to complete the junction and landscape the site.
