A9 Dalwhinnie to Crubenmore

Scheme outline

Upgrade of the existing single carriageway A9 to dual two-lane road from the junction with the A889 at Dalwhinnie to the southern end of the existing dual carriageway at Crubenmore. This 11 km (6.8 mile) section forms part of a wider programme to upgrade the A9 to dual carriageway between Perth and Inverness.

This scheme includes construction of a new junction for the A889, which will be to the north of the present one and include a short link road to reach the A889 itself. It will also involve changes to an aqueduct, potentially involving rebuilding it on a new line over a significant length where it occupies space needed for the new carriageway, and potentially a split-level section with one carriageway running at a higher level than the other.

This scheme is part of the A9 Dualling Perth to Inverness programme of works.
