Upgrade of the existing single carriageway A9 to provide a dual two-lane road between the northern end of the existing dual carriageway at Tomatin and the point it resumes west of Moy. This is the northernmost component of the wider A9 dualling programme and connects the existing dual carriageway at Slochd to the existing section leading north to Inverness itself.
New junctions will be provided at both Tomatin and Moy, and access for forestry purposes is also a consideration in this area. However, while the junction design means that this is not the simplest part of the A9 dualling project, the lack of significant landscape obstacles on this section mean that construction may not be as challenging as other parts of the route.
This scheme is part of the A9 Dualling Perth to Inverness programme of works.
Ground investigations are now in progress for this scheme.
A report on the preferred option (DMRB stage 3) is now available and was exhibited on 18-19 May.
