A77

A77 Maybole Bypass 6 January 2015

Construction of a new single two-lane road, with additional climbing lanes on hill sections, to carry the A77 trunk road around the west side of Maybole. At present the A77 passes along the High Street of the town, which is extremely narrow, and through a railway bridge which has limited height clearance.

The new road bypasses the town and also a significant length of existing road to the north-east. It will incorporate three new roundabouts; one at each end to tie in to the existing route and one at the junction with the B7023. There will be no other junctions.

A77 Symington and Bogend Toll Improvements 7 October 2014

The aim of this scheme is to improve safety along a 7.3 km stretch of the A77 between Kilmarnock and Prestwick by closing thirteen openings in the central reservation and converting the two existing at-grade junctions at Symington South and Bogend Toll (B730 junction) to grade-separated junctions. Many of the remaining junctions and accesses onto the A77 along this section will be closed. The existing alignment of the A77 will be retained.
