A96

A96 Inverness - Aberdeen 8 June 2016

Upgrade of the A96 between Inverness and Aberdeen to provide a continuous dual two-lane road for the whole of the route.

Despite its name, this scheme will actually provide a new dual carriageway from east of Nairn to Aberdeen, with the section from Inverness to Nairn being pursued as a separate scheme to be completed much earlier.

A96 Inverness - Nairn 4 April 2016

Upgrading of the A96, including dualling between Inverness and Nairn, a new Nairn bypass, a new Inveramsay Bridge and new connection between the A9 and the A96 to provide relief for the Raigmore Interchange.

This scheme is in advance of the proposals to upgrade the whole A96 between Aberdeen and Inverness to dual carriageway, which is being advanced as a separate scheme to happen at a later date.

A96 Haudagain Improvement 30 December 2014

Improvement in capacity at the junction of the A90 and A96 in the suburbs of Aberdeen, which is presently a flat roundabout that is operating above its intended capacity.

A short new link road will be built between the A90 to the south and A96 to the west, through the Middlefield area of Aberdeen, to allow traffic to bypass the junction, removing some traffic flows from the roundabout.

The work will commence after completion of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route in 2018, at which point the north-south route through this junction will no longer be the A90.

Construction of a new single carriageway route to bypass the towns of Fochabers and Mosstodloch, currently one of the most notorious bottlenecks on the road between Aberdeen and Inverness.
